Telangana Govt must act swiftly to place BC Reservation Bills in Ninth Schedule: Dr VKM Rao

Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) Dr Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, former Chairman of the Telangana State BC Commission, has urged the state government to take immediate constitutional and political steps to ensure the inclusion of the Backward Classes (BC) reservation bills in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
In a statement here on Friday, he stressed that if the state government is truly committed to implementing 42 per cent reservations for BCs in education, employment, and political representation, it must move beyond mere announcements and take concrete legal action.
Dr Rao pointed out that the Telangana Legislative Assembly had passed the BC reservation bills on March 17, and they were subsequently approved by the Governor. The bills are now pending with the President of India under Article 31-C, as the state government cited Articles 38, 39(b)(c), and 46 of the Directive Principles of State Policy.
