BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy suspended from Telangana Assembly

BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy suspended from Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) Former Minister and BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy has been suspended from the Telangana Legislative Assembly for the remainder of the ongoing budget session for making ‘disparaging’ remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.

The Speaker announced the suspension of the BRS MLA after Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu moved a Resolution seeking the suspension of Reddy and the house approved the resolution.

Jagadish Reddy made disparging remarks against the Speaker saying, "You became the Speaker only when we elected you. The house is not yours alone - it belongs to all of us." His comments triggered chaos in the Assembly, with Congress members strongly objecting.

Sridhar Babu said that no one has the authority to challenge the Speaker's decision inside or outside the house. He urged Jagadish Reddy to adopt a respectful stance without undermining the Speaker's position.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka supported him and referred the matter to the Ethics Committee.

Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka condemned Jagadish Reddy's remarks as deeply offensive and accused him of targeting the Speaker unfairly.
Seethakka also demanded that Reddy's membership be cancelled, expressing anger over his behaviour.

Uttam Kumar Reddy recalled instances from previous administrations where members were suspended for misconduct, supporting the Speaker's decision to suspend Jagadish Reddy and suggesting further review by the Ethics Committee.

After the suspension, when BRS MLAs sought an opportunity to speak, the Speaker denied their request. Subsequently, the Chief Marshal directed Jagadish Reddy, who was in the BRSLP office, to vacate the Assembly premises.

This sparked a confrontation between former Ministers KTR, Harish Rao, and the Chief Marshal, with the BRS leaders demanding clarification on what grounds Reddy has to vacate the BRSLP office.
