TRS stages protest in Hyderabad over private school fee hikes

Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI): Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) leaders and activists on Tuesday staged a protest at the Directorate of School Education at Lakdikapul demanding immediate enactment of a fee regulation law to curb alleged exorbitant fee hikes by private and corporate schools.
The protesters laid siege to the Directorate office and staged a sit-in protest for over an hour, raising slogans against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the State government. They alleged that private and corporate schools had increased fees by 100 to 150 per cent, placing a severe financial burden on parents.
The TRS leaders accused the government of protecting private educational institutions and demanded the withdrawal of GO No. 7, which they alleged had effectively scrapped the fee reimbursement scheme. They also sought the release of pending fee reimbursement dues amounting to Rs 11,000 crore.
