AP: 51 lakh MTs of paddy will be purchased from farmers: Minister

Vijayawada, Nov 5 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government will purchase 51 lakh metric tonnes of paddy produce from farmers during the kharif season.
At a presser here on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar announced that the government has made preparations to purchase over 51 lakh metric tonnes of paddy produce from farmers by paying Rs 12,200 crore.

Over 2,800 Karnataka farmers have died by suicide since 2023-24

Deepam row: Setback for TN as HC Bench declines to stay contempt proceedings before Single Judge

Chennai, Dec 16 (UNI) In a setback for the DMK government, a Division Bench of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today refused to stay the contempt proceedings before a Single Judge with regard to the non-compliance of lighting ‘Karthigai Deepam’ at a stone pillar atop the Thiruparankundram hillock, adjoining a 14th century dargah, claimed to be ‘deepathoon’, pillar for lighting deepam.
