AP: 5 engineering students killed as car rams lorry

Guntur, Dec 5 (UNI) In a tragic road accident, five engineering students were killed and one student critically injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed a lorry at Ganapavaram village in Nadendla mandal of Palnadu district on the night of Thursday.

Police said that the deceased were studying B.Tech second year at Vignan engineering college. Four of the deceased students embraced Swamy Ayyappa deeksha and another student embraced Govinda deeksha. When they were going to Vithamrajupalle village of Vinukonda mandal to participate in devotional programme bhajana, their car rammed a container truck at rear end while overtaking another lorry.

The village officer’s stop memo has triggered a controversy ahead of the proposed ‘Kumbh Mela’ on the banks of the Bharathapuzha, to be started next week.
Despite the stop memo, the organisers asserted that the event will go ahead as scheduled.

Met office cautions of fog formation over Chennai airport due to low solar heating

of fog farmation over Chennai airport and surrounding areas due to low solar heating and high
moisture levels resulting in poor visibility during the night and early morning hours for the next
three days till January 17 thereby affecting road traffic, flight operations and rail services.
