Virtual autopsy to be done in India

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday said that postmortem will be done without incising or dissecting the body.
The Health Minister during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha said that All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) are working together on a technique for postmortem without incising/dissecting the body.
The Minister said the technique is likely to become functional in next six months.
"All records will be digitalised which can be used in future if needed. This technique will be functional first in AIIMS New Delhi and then in other hospitals of the country. AIIMS doctors will be given training for the same.
"India will be the first country in South Asia to use this technique and time taken will be reduced from more than two hours to half-an-hour," he added.
