PM declares open Khelo India Youth Games, says govt making efforts to host 2036 Olympics in India

Patna, May 4 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday declared open Khelo India Youth Games 2025 and said his government was making serious efforts to get opportunity for hosting
2036 Olympics in India.
PM declared open through video conferencing, Khelo India Youth Games 2025, being hosted by Bihar, saying it would give opportunity to more than 6,000 sportspersons participating in the event, to improve their talents.
Sports were no more limited to stadiums, but it also helped in creating vast job opportunities in various related sectors, he said.
"We are making best efforts to get opportunity for hosting 2026 Olympics in India and infrastructural facilities are being improved accordingly," Modi said and pointed that more than 1,000 Khelo India centres were functional across the country to tap sporting talents of youths from the beginning.
More than three dozen such centres were functional in Bihar itself, he informed.
Modi said that Khelo India State Centre of Excellence had been opened in Rajgir of Bihar itself.
With Khelo India Youth Games being organised in Bihar, this state would be on national sports map of the country, he said.
Modi claimed that his government had brought sports in mainstream in New Education Policy. Khelo India Youth Games had greatly helped in promoting sports talents of the country in last seven years, he added.
PM noted that women were performing well in sports and bringing laurels for the country.
He appreciated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for improving sports facilities in Bihar and exuded his confidence that those participating in Khelo India Youth Games would return to their homes with sweet memories.
