Tough day for Indian boxers: Jaismine, Panghal exit Paris Olympics

Paris, July 30 (UNI) It was a challenging day for India's boxing contingent as two hopefuls faced elimination in Paris. In the women's 57kg round of 32, Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria squared off against the formidable Nesthy Petecio from the Philippines.
Jaismine, known for her aggressive fighting style, came out swinging with relentless offensive maneuvers. However, Nesthy, the silver medalist from Tokyo 2020, proved too experienced and skilled. She landed key punches throughout the bout, showcasing the prowess that made her the first Filipina boxer to win an Olympic medal and a two-time Southeast Asian Games champion.
Nesthy's control over the match was evident, as she secured a unanimous 5-0 decision victory. Despite Jaismine's best efforts, this loss marks the end of her journey in Paris, following on the heels of Amit Panghal's earlier defeat, making her the second Indian boxer to exit the competition today.
