Heatwave Intensifies: Una Boils at 44.2°C, Hottest Day of the Season in Himachal

Shimla, June 10 (UNI) The heatwave gripping Himachal Pradesh intensified on Tuesday, with Una registering a scorching 44.2°C — the highest temperature recorded in the state this summer. This marks a dangerous spike in mercury, raising serious concerns over public health, forest fire risk, and water availability in the lower and mid-hills.
Una broke its own record set just a day earlier when it had touched 42.4°C. Neri in Hamirpur district followed closely at 43°C, while Berthin and Bilaspur recorded 38.8°C and 40.8°C, respectively.
The plains and lower hills remain under severe heat stress, with most stations clocking temperatures several degrees above normal.
