Situation normal in Prayagraj as over 1.52 crore take holy dip during Maha Kumbh

Prayagraj/Lucknow, Jan 30 (UNI) The Mauni Amavasya incident in Prayagraj, which claimed 30 lives and left 60 injured, has failed to deter the spirit of the devotees as more than 1.52 crore pilgrims took a bath in Sangam till 2 PM during Maha Kumbh on Thursday.
According to official figures more than 27.58 crore pilgrims, including 10 lakh Kalpvasis, have taken a dip in the holy Sangam since the beginning of Maha Kumbh on January 13.
Sources said that while Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar have reached Prayagraj after Wednesday's incident, seven IAS officers, including five officers of Special Secretary rank, have been deployed to monitor the situation continuously, they said.
