12-yr-old boy killed, four injured in Darul Uloom fire in J&K’s Anantnag

Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) A 12-year-old boy was killed and four others were injured after a massive fire broke out at a Darul Uloom in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
The fire erupted at around 1:30 am at Darul Uloom Baba Hydari Reshi in Mattan area of Anantnag, triggering panic among students staying in the seminary building. Fire and Emergency Services personnel, aided by locals and police, rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and firefighting operation.
Officials said several students were safely evacuated from the building, preventing what could have turned into a major tragedy. However, one student of Warden village, sustained critical burn injuries and later succumbed.
