CM Sukhu urges Centre for 12 per cent free power share from BBMB projects

Shimla, June 23 (UNI) In a significant move to address long-standing economic disparities, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding 12 per cent free power from all Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) projects for Himachal Pradesh.
He asserted that while other hydropower projects approved by the state government are contributing free power, BBMB continues to supply energy without providing any such benefit to Himachal, despite using its natural resources extensively.
“The state has suffered economic loss for decades and did not receive its fair share of benefits from BBMB,” wrote Sukhu, highlighting that the state’s hydro potential was significantly diverted without proportionate returns.
