Village Defence Guards are first tier of security grid: J&K DGP

Jammu, Dec 3 (UNI) Sensitizing about the constant adversarial tactics adopted by the enemy neighbour country to harm the security and harmony in our country, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat today described Village Defence Guards (VDGs) as first tier of security grid and appreciated their role in timely intelligence collection as well as their role during Operation Sindoor and floods.
He clarified that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the smooth functioning of the VDGs have been notified in close coordination with the BSF and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in which role and duties of all stakeholders have been clearly mentioned.
Interacting with the VDG members here at R S Pura and Arnia border sectors, the J&K Police Chief briefed officers and VDG members regarding the VDG and Border SOPs and need for its proper implementation on ground by all the stakeholders to further strengthen border security grid and thwart the evil design’s of enemy country.
