Amritsar cops bust Pak-linked weapon smuggling module; two arrested

Chandigarh, Dec 1 (UNI) Amritsar Commissionerate Police said on Monday it has dismantled a Pakistan-backed weapon smuggling network following a targeted operation based on intelligence inputs. Two operatives associated with the module were arrested and seven sophisticated pistols were recovered from them.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav briefed the media on the development, calling it a significant breakthrough against cross-border networks attempting to destabilise the state. According to initial investigation details, the accused were in direct contact with a Pakistani handler.
The handler allegedly coordinated weapon drops via drones launched from across the border. Locations for these deliveries were sent through WhatsApp, and the operatives retrieved the consignments under the cover of darkness before supplying them to other members of the module. Preliminary findings indicate that the network had been functioning for an extended period to maintain a steady flow of illegal arms into Punjab.

The person's severed head got caught in the locomotive and was carried about 4 km to Amla where it was extricated with the help of Railway personnel. The rest of the body was found on the scene.
