Punjab Congress sees new flashpoint as Warring responds to Channi’s “United Congress” message

Chandigarh, Dec 3 (UNI) In a fresh display of internal friction within the Punjab Congress, state party president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has answered former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in a style mirroring Channi’s own social-media signalling.
Days after Channi shared a video projecting “United Congress” with senior leaders alongside him, Warring uploaded an Instagram clip of his own. In the video, the Ludhiana MP is seen standing on the terrace of his home, holding the party flag, with a popular Punjabi track playing in the background. The choice of song interpreted by many as subtly assertive has triggered political chatter inside the party.
Warring has been under mounting pressure since the Congress slipped to the fourth position in the Tarn Taran bypoll, even losing its deposit. Critics within the organisation have linked the poor performance to his controversial remarks during the campaign. As the party heads towards the 2027 Assembly elections, speculation is intensifying over whether the Congress high command may consider a change in leadership next year.
