Punjab BJP holds 'People’s Assembly' in Chandigarh, demands CBI probe into AAP’s flood management

Chandigarh, Sep 29 (UNI) Amid the Punjab government’s special assembly session on the flood crisis, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised its own parallel assembly, termed the 'People’s Assembly,' in Sector-37, Chandigarh. The event, presided over by Charanjit Singh Atwal as speaker, aimed to address public grievances and highlight alleged failures of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in managing floods.
BJP leaders, including acting state president Ashwini Sharma, participated in the event, which began with the national anthem and a two-minute silence to honour those who lost their lives in the floods. The assembly passed a resolution condemning the Punjab government’s handling of the crisis.
Atwal attributed the severity of the floods to the government’s failure to maintain and repair canals in a timely manner. He questioned the utilisation of Rs 12,000 crore reportedly allocated for flood management, asking, “Where did the money go?” He also raised concerns about the growing drug menace in the state.
