HP: State Govt and opposition unite against drug menace

Dharamsala, Dec 5 (UNI) In a rare show of unity, the ruling and opposition benches of Himachal Pradesh came together on Friday outside the Tapovan Assembly complex on the eighth and final day of the Winter Session to raise a collective voice against the growing drug menace in the state.
Outside Gate No. 1 of the Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, ministers and legislators from both parties stood together and raised slogans including “Chitta bhagana hai… Himachal ko bachana hai” (Drive out drugs, save Himachal).
This was the first time leaders who had confronted each other inside the House over political differences appeared united on a single platform outside the Assembly on the issue of narcotics.

Mild earthquake hits J&K’s Baramulla, tremors felt in several areas

According to official data, the tremor occurred at 7:10 pm with its epicentre located 19 km west-northwest of Srinagar.
