UP: Youth sentenced to 20 years RI for minor's rape

Jaunpur (UP), May 7 (UNI) A youth was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 56,000 by a local court for rape of a minor girl in Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, prosecution sources said here.
Prosecution sources said that in 2022, the victim had registered a case at Sarpatha police station that her father, uncle and grandfather live in Mumbai. "The complainant said that she lived with her brother and mother. On July 10, 2022, when the mother and brother had gone to the market, the neighbour youth Rehan entered the house, closed the door and raped her," they said.
Prosecution sources said that on the basis of evidence available on record, the court of Additional Sessions Judge (Pocso) Umesh Kumar held Rehan guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 56,000.
