Mayawati warns of economic strain amid US-Iran conflict, urges relief measures

Lucknow, May 12 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President Mayawati has expressed concern that uncertainty over the US–Iran conflict is contributing to a growing energy crisis and putting pressure on India’s foreign exchange reserves.
She has urged both the central and state governments to take immediate steps in the public interest.
In a statement issued in Lucknow on Tuesday, Mayawati voiced deep concern over the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Referring to the Prime Minister’s appeal for “restraint,” she warned that the impact on India may go beyond rising prices of petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, and LPG, and could develop into a broader economic crisis.
