Farmer electrocuted near Indo-Pak border in Fazilka, rescued by BSF

Chandigarh, May 5 (UNI) A farmer sustained critical injuries after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line while working in his fields across the international border fence in Fazilka district on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as a resident of the border village Muhar Khiwa Mansa, was immediately rescued by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and rushed to the local government hospital for emergency treatment.
The incident occurred when the farmer had crossed the barbed wire fencing to tend to his nine-acre ancestral plot located near the Zero Line.

During the operation, 13 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in Gurugram were identified and will be deported following due legal procedures.

UP Assembly elections may be held early due to census

Senior party leaders said the move is being considered because the same pool of government employees is deployed for both elections and census operations, raising concerns over a shortage of personnel.
