CPIM terms Himachal govt's bus fare hike as 'loot of common people'

Shimla, May 9 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly criticised the state government’s decision to increase long-distance bus fares, terming it an “anti-people move” that adds economic burden on the already distressed public.
In a statement issued by Sadar Local Committee Secretary Suresh Sarwal, the party slammed the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government for its back-to-back fare hikes.
“Within a month, the minimum fare was doubled from Rs 5 to Rs 10, and now the general fare has been increased by 15 percent. This clearly shows the government is looting the common people under the garb of revenue generation,” the statement read.
