Rajiv Gandhi Van Sanvardhan Yojana and 76th Van Mahotsav launched in Bhandrela, Shahpur

Shahpur, Aug 14 (UNI) The Rajiv Gandhi Van Sanvardhan Yojana and the 76th Van Mahotsav were celebrated with great enthusiasm today at Bhandrela in Manei Panchayat of Shahpur Assembly constituency. Chief Guest and Shahpur MLA & Deputy Chief Whip, Kewal Singh Pathania, planted an amla sapling to mark the occasion.
Pathania said the scheme, launched on June 4, 2025, under the vision of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is a significant step towards strengthening the rural economy. Under this plan, Rs. 100 crore will be spent over the next five years, including Rs. 20 crore in FY 2025–26 to plant saplings on 1,000–1,050 hectares of land. A grant of Rs. 1.20 lakh per hectare is provided for plantation and maintenance.
As part of the 76th Van Mahotsav, plantations will be carried out on 2,000 hectares across the state, including 284 hectares in Dharamshala Forest Division and 80 hectares in Shahpur constituency. In Manei Panchayat, 4,000 saplings will be planted on five hectares of land.
