LS Election: Tewari trashes Tandon’s charges against Congress over reservation

Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and INDIA Alliance candidate from the Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency Manish Tewari on Wednesday trashed the claims of the BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon that the grand old party will take away the right of reservation from the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes.
Tewari said, nothing can be far from truth that anyone saying that the Congress will take away the right of reservation from the SC, ST or BC communities.
He pointed out, not only the Congress which provided the right of reservation to deserving people, it has also reiterated its commitment about the same in its party manifesto.

The Senior Congress leader said, it is on record that several BJP leaders in the past have opposed reservations and also suggested doing away with them. In order to divert the attention, the BJP leaders like Tandon
are spreading false canards against the Congress, Tewari observed.

He alleged that after failing to divide people on the communal lines, the BJP is now trying to divide people on the caste lines and the party is certain to fail here too.
