UP to showcase its Growth Vision at WEF Davos 2026

Lucknow, Jan 17 ( UNI) Uttar Pradesh is set to take a confident stride onto the global stage as its delegation participates in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, from January 19-23.
With a clear agenda to engage in impactful discussions and secure strategic investments, the state is positioning itself as a hub for industrial growth, innovation, and sustainable development.
Uttar Pradesh has been steadily strengthening its global outreach to present itself as a reliable, investor-friendly, and future-ready destination. The state’s participation at WEF is being coordinated by Invest UP, the government’s dedicated investment promotion and facilitation agency.

Lawyer shot dead in Rampur Panchayat office dispute

Rampur, Feb 11 (UNI) A 45-year-old lawyer was shot dead inside the Rampur District Panchayat office on Wednesday afternoon following a dispute with a clerk.
The deceased has been identified as Farooq, a practicing advocate for nearly 30 years. The accused is Asghar Ali, a clerk at the district panchayat office.

ED raids British citizen's house over alleged financial irregularities around Madrasa

Sant Kabir Nagar, Feb 11 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence of Maulana Shamshul Huda, a British citizen originally from Sant Kabir Nagar district.
A three-member ED team from Lucknow reached his house in the Meeth Mandi area under Khalilabad Kotwali limits around 8 AM. The officials seized the mobile phones of family members present at the house and began questioning his wife and daughter-in-law. His son, Tausif Raza, was reportedly not present during the raid.
