Rs. 25-crore drinking water scheme sanctioned to permanently address the issue in the Changar area: BJP MLA

Kangra, Oct 5 (UNI) State BJP Vice President Pawan Kajal on Sunday visited Samela Panchayat as part of a public outreach campaign, where villagers raised concerns about the irregular supply of drinking water, which they said reached their homes only once or twice a week. Expressing regret, Kajal said he felt ashamed that despite serving as an MLA for 13 years, he had not been able to ensure regular tap water supply to every household in Samela. He informed the villagers that a ₹25-crore drinking water scheme had been sanctioned under the MLA Priority Scheme to permanently address the issue in the Changar area.
“The foundation stone for this project was laid by the then Chief Minister, the late Raja Virbhadra Singh. However, due to the negligent attitude of officials, the project has remained defunct for ten years,” Kajal said. Although pipelines were laid and a storage tank was built, he added, the supply of water never began.
He said the issue of the incomplete water supply project and its non-utilization had also been raised in the Assembly during the recent monsoon session. Following a meeting with departmental officials, the department has now assured that the scheme will be restored by November 30.
