Jeweler killed in broad daylight in Ghaziabad; accused detained

Ghaziabad, Dec 4 (UNI) A 75-year-old jeweler, Girdhari Lal Verma, was killed in a daytime attack on Thursday in Govindpuri Market, Ghaziabad. The incident took place around 9:15 am, shortly after Verma arrived with his son to open their shop, Girdhari Lal & Sons Jewelers, a 50-year-old establishment well known in the area.
According to the police, the accused, Ankit Gupta (30), who lives in the same colony about 500 meters from the shop, approached Verma when he was lifting the shutter of his store. An altercation followed, after which Ankit brutally attacked Girdhari with a knife, injuring him critically.

Earthquake of 5 0 Magnitude rocks Kangra valley

Kangra, June 6 (UNI) Kangra Valley experienced an earthquake on Friday late evening measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale. The tremor lasted for a few seconds, with its epicentre located 18 km from Dharamshala towards the Chamba region. No major loss of life or property was reported from any part of the valley. A cement slab of a house at Palampur collapsed; however, no one was injured in the incident.
