Suicide attack threat against CM Mann, Ravneet Bittu in email; schools evacuated in Jalandhar

Chandigarh, May 7 (UNI) A high-security alert was triggered in Jalandhar on Thursday after a threatening email surfaced, warning of a suicide car bomb (IED) attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during his ongoing 'Shukrana Yatra'.
The threatening communication also named union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu as a target, claiming the attacks would be carried out to avenge the death of pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The email, which mentions multiple Punjab cities including Jalandhar, Amritsar, Adampur, and Fatehgarh Sahib, has put the state's security apparatus on maximum alert.
The development led to the sudden evacuation of several educational institutions, including the BSF school located within the same headquarters where a low-intensity blast occurred just two days ago. While BSF School Principal Ranjana Dogra stated that the early dismissal was based on management instructions without specific knowledge of a threat, local authorities confirmed that five to six schools in the city, including APJ School, received bomb threats via email.
