Punjab Police foil major plot in Mohali, four Lawrence gang shooters arrested

Mohali, Nov 26 (UNI) A tense gunfight unfolded on Tuesday afternoon on the Derabassi-Ambala Highway in Mohali when Punjab Police confronted four shooters linked to the Lawrence gang. Two of the gang members sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter and were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital.
Police sources said the action followed a tip-off regarding the shooters' planned activities, prompting a strategic cordon around the area near Steel Strips Towers. The gang members opened fire during the attempted apprehension, but the police responded effectively, preventing any large-scale attack. Authorities recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition from the suspects, suggesting preparation for a serious criminal operation.
"The arrested gang members were reportedly planning a significant strike in the Tricity and Patiala regions under instructions from their handlers abroad," said a senior police official. Forensic teams have begun examining the seized firearms, while searches continue for possible accomplices in the vicinity.
