Mathura (UP), Oct 28 (UNI) Jyotishpeethadhiswar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has said that heinous crimes like cow slaughter can be curbed only by making laws.
Demanding to stop cow slaughter and to give cow the status of 'mother', Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati started the 'Gopratishtha Dhwaj Yatra' from Ayodhya on 22 September, which concluded with the flag hoisting at Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan.
He said that 33 crore gods and goddesses reside in the cow. "Therefore, worshipping the cow is worshipping all the gods. Slaughtering of such a cow in India is like a stigma," he said.
