Yogi Govt’s ODOC scheme brings taste of 75 districts of UP: Traditional dish of every district to become its identity

Lucknow, May 6 (UNI) A major step towards giving a new identity to the diverse tastes and rich culinary tradition of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has undertaken a significant initiative. On the lines of one district one product (ODOP), under ‘One District One Cuisine (ODOC)’, comprehensive mapping of major traditional dishes of all 75 districts of the state has been completed, thereby establishing a distinct food identity for each district.

Under this initiative, famous dish such as Agra’s Petha, Mathura’s Peda, Varanasi’s Lassi, Jaunpur’s Imarti, Gorakhpur’s Samosa, Meerut’s Revdi-Gajak, Lucknow’s Malai Makhan, Saharanpur’s Honey, and Muzaffarnagar’s Jaggery have been given prominence.

UP Assembly elections may be held early due to census

Lucknow, Jun 16 (UNI) Assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, currently scheduled for February 2027, may be advanced by at least a month to avoid overlapping with the Census exercise. Senior party leaders said the move is being considered because the same pool of government employees is deployed for both elections and census operations, raising concerns over a shortage of personnel.
