Haryana clarifies rules for Rs 51,000 marriage grant to kin of freedom fighters

Chandigarh, Nov 4 (UNI) The Haryana Government has issued revised guidelines to streamline the disbursement of financial aid provided for the marriage of daughters, dependent sisters, and grand-daughters of State Freedom Fighters and Indian National Army (INA) personnel.
In a circular issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, the state has clarified eligibility criteria and procedures to remove earlier ambiguities that had delayed benefits to entitled families. Under the new directions, if a freedom fighter or INA personnel and their spouse have passed away, the son or daughter-in-law of the deceased will now be eligible to apply for the Rs 51,000 assistance for the marriage of their daughter, who is the granddaughter of the freedom fighter.
Applications for financial aid must be submitted within six months of the marriage, and in exceptional cases, up to 12 months, through the office of the concerned Deputy Commissioner. After verification, the claims will be sent to the Chief Secretary for final approval. The Administrator General and Official Trustee-cum-Treasurer of Charitable Endowments, Haryana, will oversee the disbursement of the fund.
