Sewadar dies after falling from Nishan Sahib in Ludhiana during Baisakhi service

Chandigarh, April 14 (UNI) A pall of gloom spread across Ludhiana on Tuesday morning following the tragic death of a devoted 'sewadar' during a religious service on the occasion of Baisakhi. The incident occurred at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha in Kartar Nagar, situated under the Atma Nagar police post on Dugri Road, when a mechanical failure led to a fatal fall from a significant height.
The victim, identified as 40-year-old Maninder Singh, was performing the sacred ritual of changing the 'Chola Sahib' (the cloth covering of the Nishan Sahib). According to eyewitnesses, Maninder had reached a height of approximately 80 feet using a crane lift to complete the service. As he was finishing the task and securing the knots, the iron cable of the crane suddenly snapped, causing him to plummet nearly 60 feet onto the concrete floor below.
The gathered congregation and fellow volunteers rushed a heavily bleeding Maninder to a nearby hospital. However, due to the severity of the impact and internal injuries, he succumbed to his wounds on the way and was declared dead by the doctors.
