India and Greece heading towards doubling bilateral trade by 2030: PM Modi

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held bilateral talks with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis in New Delhi and said "India and Greece are heading towards doubling the bilateral trade by 2030".
Speaking after the talks at Hyderabad House, Modi said, "The visit of the Greek PM to India after 16 years is a historic occasion. It's a matter of happiness that we are heading towards doubling the bilateral trade by 2030."
"The increasing cooperation in defence and security reflects our deep mutual trust" the PM said.
He further added that in this sector, with the formation of the Working Group, we can increase cooperation in common challenges like Defence, Cybersecurity, Counter-terrorism and Maritime Security".
Modi also called upon his counterpart to fight against terrorism unitedly.
"India and Greece have the same concerns and priorities. We held a detailed discussion in further strengthening our cooperation." he said.
Touching upon the issue of Indo- Pacific, the Prime Minister informed that India welcomed Greece's active participation and positive role in the Indo-Pacific.
"It is a matter of happiness that Greece has decided to join the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative. We agree that all disputes and tensions should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy" he added.
Early the Ministry of External Affairs, called the meeting "productive" which will give further impetus to Strategic Partnership between two countries.
In Social Media Post on X , the Ministry said, "The two leaders reviewed bilateral ties & discussed deepening partnerships in areas of defence & security, maritime, trade & investment, cultural ties among others".
This is the first bilateral head of state level visit from Greece to India after 15 years.
The last Prime Ministerial visit from Greece to India took place in 2008.
Earlier, the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is on a two-day state visit to India, was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
