India will meets it's energy goal in line with 2020 deadline: PM at Energy Week 2025

New Delhi Feb 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the next two decades are very crucial for a developed India and in the next 5 years the country will meet its energy goals in line with the 2030 deadline.
Inaugurating the India Energy Week 2025, Modi said, "These goals of ours may seem very ambitious, but what India has achieved in the last 10 years has created confidence that we will achieve this goal"
Talking about the initiatives taken by the government in the clean energy sector, the PM said "Today India's biofuel industry is ready to grow rapidly. We have 500 million metric tonnes of sustainable feedstock"
"During India's G20 presidency, the Global Biofuel Alliance was formed, which is constantly expanding," he said, adding "28 nations and 12 international organizations have joined. It is transforming waste into wealth and setting up centers of excellence".
Highlighting the significant potential for manufacturing various types of hardware, including PV modules, in India, Modi said, "With the "Make in India" initiative, we are focused on strengthening local supply and manufacturing. Over the past decade, India’s solar PV module manufacturing capacity has expanded significantly, growing from 2 GW to 70 GW".
He emphasised that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has made the sector more attractive, promoting the manufacturing of high-efficiency solar PV modules.
“India's major focus is on Make in India and local supply chains”, said the PM, who also underscored the significant potential for manufacturing various types of hardware, including PV modules, in the country.
The Prime Minister noted that India is supporting local manufacturing, with the solar PV module manufacturing capacity expanding from 2 gigawatts to approximately 70 gigawatts in the past ten years.
“To strengthen India's energy sector, the Government is empowering the public”, emphasised the Prime Minister.
He highlighted that ordinary families and farmers have been made energy providers and remarked that the "PM Suryagarh Free Electricity Scheme" was launched last year, and its scope is not limited to energy production.
The Prime Minister reiterated India's commitment to providing energy solutions that energise growth and enrich nature.
He expressed confidence that the Energy Week would yield concrete outcomes in this direction.
The four-day India Energy Week 2025, that began today at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, has been the second-largest energy event globally in terms of ministerial and CEO participation, exhibition space, and the number of sessions.
Over 70,000 delegates, 500 speakers and 700 exhibitors, including energy ministers from over 20 countries, including hose from advanced economies, the largest energy producers, and countries of the global south are attending the event. UNI JA SSP
