Congress slams Assam CM over Police action at Pawan Khera’s residence

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after a police contingent from Assam, supported by local officers, visited the Delhi residence of party spokesperson Pawan Khera in connection with an FIR related to allegations Khera made about the chief minister’s family.
The police action comes amid a heated political battle just days before assembly elections in Assam.
‎In a post on social media platform X, Ramesh accused Sarma of misusing state machinery for political ends. “The deployment of a full army of police officials to arrest my colleague Pawan Khera for asking basic questions in the public interest proves that the Assam CM is disturbed, desperate, and rattled,” he wrote, characterising the operation as a targeted witch hunt rather than due process.
