India, Pakistan agree to reduce troops, stop firing

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) India and Pakistan on Monday agreed to take steps towards immediate reduction of troops on the borders and forward areas and desist from firing shots.
The Army said that talks between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan, were held at 5 PM an Monday and it was discussed that both armies would not fire a single shot on the borders nor will they initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other.
During the talks, it was also agreed that both the countries will take immediate measures to ensure troop reduction from the borders and forward areas, the Army said.
It may be mentioned that the talks were scheduled at 12 noon but was deferred till 5 PM.
The talks were held on Saturday (May 10) at the request of Pakistan and both sides agreed to stop all firing on land, air and sea. Both the DGMOs also decided to talk again on Monday.
Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, India on May seven launched Operation Sindoor and targeted nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
More than 100 terrorists, including top commanders of JeM and LeT terror groups, were killed in the operation.
