Khandelwal raises concerns over delays in hospital discharge due to insurance procedures

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal, has urged the Central Government and insurance regulator IRDAI to address delays faced by patients during hospital discharge due to procedural coordination between hospitals, insurance companies, and Third Party Administrators (TPAs).
In letters addressed to union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and the Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Khandelwal highlighted complaints from insured patients who allegedly face long waiting periods even after doctors declare them fit for discharge.
According to the MP, patients and their families are often made to wait for several hours because of pending approvals, documentation, and communication between hospitals, TPAs, and insurance companies. He said such delays can lead to additional financial burden, including extra bed charges, medicine costs, and other incidental expenses.
