ECI begins voter list revision covering 51 cr electors in 12 States and UTs

New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) The Election Commission of India has kicked off the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 12 states and union Territories, encompassing about 51 crore voters.
The door-to-door enumeration, conducted by Block Level Officers (BLOs), started today and will run until December 4, aiming to ensure an accurate, transparent, and credible voter database ahead of key upcoming elections in states such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, and Puducherry.
Following the enumeration, the ECI will release draft electoral rolls on December 9, opening the window for claims and objections from voters until January 8, 2026. Subsequent hearings and verifications will be completed by January 31, with the final electoral rolls slated for publication on February 7, 2026.
