Delhi AAP MLA Kartar Singh, former minister Raj Kumar Anand join BJP

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar and former Minister Raj Kumar Anand joined BJP at the party headquarters here on Wednesday.
Both the leaders joined the party in the presence of Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and National general secretary Arun Singh, citing the reason for "corruption" after the AAP's convener was arrested in the excise policy case.
Addressing a press conference, Raj Kumar Anand said development works have come to a stand still in the national capital.
He also accused Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal of ignoring issues related to Dalits.
Anand, joined the BJP after he had recently contested the Lok Sabha polls on BSP ticket and lost the election.
Raj Kumar Anand was elected as an MLA from Patel Nagar, a reserved seat, in 2020 on the AAP’s ticket and had served as social welfare minister in the Delhi government.
Tanwar, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Chhatarpur constituency, lauded the polices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said it is an opportunity for him to serve the country under his leadership.
"Delhi is in a bad shape. A party which was born out of a movement to end corruption is deeply steeped in corruption," he alleged.
Welcoming the both the leaders in the party, Virendra Sachdeva said, “The AAP leaders have joined the BJP after being inspired by the leadership and work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that working in the AAP for them is like working under a dictatorship."
He added that the corruption is at the peak in the AAP…all of them have taken the membership of the BJP and we welcome everyone into the party.
Veena Anand wife of Raj Kumar Anand, had been an active AAP leader in the area before the 2024 Lok Sabha election, also joined the BJP.
She was elected as an AAP MLA from Patel Nagar in 2013.
