Indian UN Battalion Acts Swiftly to Control Blaze in Congo’s Goma

New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) Demonstrating swift action and unwavering commitment, Indian Army UN peacekeepers of the Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion (INDRDB), stationed at BFI–CHU Camp, rushed to contain a devastating fire that broke out in the Bujovi Quarter along Bunyerezo Avenue in Goma.
The blaze, triggered by an electrical short circuit, quickly engulfed three adjoining houses in the densely populated locality, prompting an immediate and coordinated response from the Indian contingent.
In a statement issued here, the Army spokesperson said that after reaching the site, the troops immediately took charge of the situation. The Quick Reaction Force cordoned off the area and evacuated approximately 10 to 12 residents to safety, while the Fire Fighting Team simultaneously undertook firefighting operations and searched the affected houses for any persons trapped inside. During the rescue effort, first aid was administered to around six to seven injured civilians.
