Buddha’s sacred relics to travel to Russia’s Kalmykia for first-ever exposition

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) The Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha, currently enshrined at the National Museum here, are set to be taken to the Republic of Kalmykia in Russia for a historic eight-day exposition beginning tomorrow.
The Holy Relics will be accompanied by a high-level Indian delegation, including 11 senior monks, who will conduct religious ceremonies and bestow blessings upon the predominantly Buddhist population of the region.
According to a statement issued by the union Ministry of Culture, the Holy Relics will be ceremonially received by Geshe Tenzin Choidak, the Shajin Lama and Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia; Batu Sergeyevich Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia; and other senior members of the Buddhist Sangha.
