Promoting local languages vital for India's global recognition: Amit Shah

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said India can attain a distinguished and respected position in the world only by empowering and promoting its local languages.

“Every language of the country is completely connected with other languages and development of all languages is not possible without each other,” the Home Minister said after launching the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (Indian Languages Section) here.

He further said, “Indian languages are the soul of our culture and our culture is the soul of India”, an official statement said.

He said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the establishment of the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (Indian Languages Section), the Department of Official Language has now become a complete department.

“It will prove to be a milestone in the direction of freeing the administration from the influence of foreign languages. Our potential can be fully exploited only when our processes of thinking, analysis and decision-making are in our mother tongue,” he said.

Calling the Indian languages as rivers, Shah said, “Indian languages are the soul of our culture and our culture is the soul of India, and this section will provide a strong and organised platform to all languages, incorporating the linguistic diversity of India”. UNI RBE SSP
