Govt committed to transform cooperatives into vibrant, successful business units: Shah

New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah today said that the government is committed to transform cooperatives into vibrant and successful business units.
He noted that as part of the ambitious plan to establish two lakh multipurpose cooperative societies within five years, 35,395 new cooperatives have already been formed. These include 6,182 Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS), 27,562 dairy cooperatives, and 1,651 fisheries cooperatives.
Shah chaired the second meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Cooperation on the initiatives to strengthen the cooperative sector here, an official statement said.
