PM Modi spotlights Scindia’s vision for Northeast India

New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today shared an evocative article by union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on the social media platform X, celebrating the natural splendor and spirited resilience of India’s Northeast. Scindia’s reflections paint the region as a treasure trove of cultural richness and environmental beauty, vital to India’s strategic outreach. In his article, Scindia dubs the Northeast as the nation’s “Ashtalakshmi,” a symbol of abundant natural and cultural wealth. “The Northeast is no longer just a frontier- it is now India’s forward face,” he asserts, emphasizing the region’s emergence as a critical gateway to Southeast Asia, integral to the government’s Act East Policy.
During his recent visits to Meghalaya and Assam, Scindia expressed admiration for the region’s pristine landscapes and vibrant communities. “I had the privilege of observing nature at its most authentic, where the grandeur of the environment is complemented by the cultural richness of the communities that inhabit it,” he wrote.
PM Modi’s amplification of Scindia’s insights underscores the government’s commitment to weaving the Northeast more tightly into India’s growth story and international economic partnerships. The strategic importance of the region—both culturally and geopolitically—is being leveraged to enhance connectivity, trade, and diplomacy with Southeast Asian neighbors.
