‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, the Game of Thrones prequel, to premiere in January

Los Angeles, Oct 7 (UNI) The highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series, 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms', is set to premiere on JioHotstar in January next year.
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ a spin-off of Game of Thrones, is set to premiere in early January next year, HBO confirmed, unveiling a striking new poster that captures the show’s tone and spirit.
The poster carries the tagline, “A Tall Tale That Became Legend,” while the makers wrote, “This Winter, Spring is Coming. AKnightoftheSevenKingdoms premieres January, only on hbomax. NYCC.”
The announcement quickly stirred excitement among fans, who flooded social media with comments like “My favourite Game of Thrones story right here. Can’t wait!!!” and “Everybody wake up, WINTER IS COMING.”
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Discovery executives had hinted that the second Game of Thrones prequel, following House of the Dragon, would arrive by late 2025.
However, the release was later moved to 2026, accompanied by the unveiling of the show’s first look and teaser.
As reported by Variety, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight and follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, played by Peter Claffey, and his young squire Egg, portrayed by Dexter Sol Ansell.
Set nearly a century before the events of Game of Thrones and a hundred years after House of the Dragon, the series explores their journey through Westeros, where they cross paths with members of the Targaryen dynasty — including Prince Aerion, Prince Baelor, and Prince Maekar Targaryen.
According to the official synopsis, “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros a young, naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
With this latest update, anticipation is building as fans await the official release date of the highly awaited Game of Thrones prequel.
