DRI officials nab one wildlife criminal, recover 1448 Indian flap shell turtles

Bhubaneswar, Feb 24 (UNI) The officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have apprehended one person and seized 1448 Indian Flap Shell Turtles at Godipada Toll Plaza near Khurda in Odisha from his possession.
In a successful operation on Sunday, the DRI officials also seized the vehicle used in carrying such a large number of Indian Flap Shell Turtles under provisions of Section 50(1)(c) read with Section 9 and Sl.No.44 of Schedule-I of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
Indian Flap Shell Turtles, classified as a Schedule I species, are accorded stringent protection under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
