Human-Elephant conflict deepens in Odisha amid shrinking habitats

Bhubaneshwar Sep 7 (UNI) Human-elephant conflict in Odisha is spiraling, with villagers in forest side areas spending nights on makeshift wooden platforms on treetops to escape rampaging herds.
As traditional habitat corridors of elephants bear the maximum brunt of mining, industrialization, infrastructure projects and multiple man-made interference, elephant incursions into human settlements have become a daily occurrence.
Of the 30 districts, as many as 26 districts are home to elephants with depredation of these heritage elephants are being experienced in major areas with life, property at stake for people living in villages on the periphery of elephant habitats.

Ruling ally IPFT in Tripura seeks modification of SIR enumeration form

Agartala, July 15 (UNI) The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura, called on Election Commission of India (ECI) to amend the voter enumeration forms for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The party argued that these forms should differentiate between residents of Sixth Schedule areas (under the autonomous district council) and those living in other regions, in light of the provisions of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

A 55-year-old man found murdered inside a room in Tripura
