Soaring mercury level affects normal life in Assam, IMD predicts more hotter days

Guwahati, June 11 ( UNI) With the mercury level soaring, normal life was seen getting affected in Assam. While the Assam capital town Guwahati recorded 37 degree Celsius on Wednesday, other towns across the state have also recorded higher temperatures.
Officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Guwahati said that although temperatures have increased, it is yet to reach the benchmark to be declared a "heat wave."
IMD officials at Guwahati said that the heat wave is declared only when the temperature crosses 40 degree Celsius.
