Darjeeling MP seeks probe into alleged irregularities in Bharat Dal scheme

Siliguri, April 30 (UNI) A complaint alleging suspected irregularities in the implementation of the Bharat Dal scheme in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) region has been taken up by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, who has written to union Minister Prahlad Joshi seeking a detailed inquiry.
The letter was sent after inputs were reportedly received from residents regarding suspected pilferage involving individuals linked to the GTA. In the communication, it has been stated that around 47,000 metric tonnes of chana were allegedly requisitioned under the Bharat Dal scheme through a letter dated March 5, 2024.
It has further been mentioned that another communication, dated April 8, 2024, from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, had suggested that the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Ltd. (NCCF) coordinate with the GTA for the supply of 14,000 metric tonnes of chana under the scheme.
