Manipur BJP MLAs await appointment with central leaders in Delhi

Imphal, Oct 9 (UNI) A delegation of BJP legislators from Manipur now camping in Delhi is yet to get an appointment with the party chief JP Nadda or Home Minister Amit Shah. These MLAs are in Delhi share a common grouse of the central leaders' inability to even meet them, said a source.
Former chief minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker Th. Satyabrata and the MLAs have been in the national capital since October 4. Sources said they have not asked for an appointment with the Prime Minister as of now. The PM has not met any political leaders from Manipur since the outbreak of the crisis on May 3, 2023. Even during the recent visit to Manipur, the PM did not meet any MLA or civil society leaders.
About 26 BJP MLAs are now in Delhi and other MLAs are likely to go to New Delhi within the next few days, sources said. The MLAs are demanding restoration of a popular government in the state where President’s rule was imposed on Feb 13, 2025. All the MLAs have been holding consultations at Manipur Bhawan and have reportedly conveyed to the central leadership their collective demand for immediate withdrawal of the President rule and reinstallation of an elected government.
